Overview

Learn Scrum by doing it — and leave ready to lead a Scrum team.The Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM) is Scrum Alliance's foundation certification for Scrum Masters and anyone working in or with Scrum teams. Over two live online days you'll learn Scrum the way it's meant to be used — through agile games, real case studies and a hands-on team simulation where you run full Sprints.
You'll work in small groups, practise with our AI Scrum Master assistant, and prepare for the exam as you go.
Format: Two days, live online (Zoom and Miro). Includes preparation for the Scrum Alliance CSM exam and associated costs.

What will you learn?

🧭 Why agile works Why organisations adopt agile, what being and doing agile really means, and the myths that get in the way.
🔬 How Scrum works Empiricism and its three pillars — transparency, inspection and adaptation — plus the five Scrum values and why Scrum suits complex work.
👥 The Scrum team How the Scrum Master, Product Owner and Developers work together, and the Scrum Master's stances as facilitator, coach, teacher and mentor.
🏢 Scrum in your organisation The role of project and line managers, organisational impediments, technical debt and the "Scrum but…" traps to avoid.
📋 Backlog and Sprints Write user stories, refine the Product Backlog, estimate with Planning Poker, set Sprint Goals and build a strong Definition of Done.
🔄 Scrum events that work Run Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review and Sprint Retrospective that teams actually value.

How the two days run

Day 1 covers agile, Scrum, the Scrum team and the wider organisation. Day 2 covers the Product Backlog, the Sprint, the Scrum events and a hands-on team simulation. You'll practise exam questions in every break.
1. Why agile? Play a fast-paced team game that shows how forecasting, flow and quality interact, then bust the common myths of agile.
2. Scrum foundations Explore a case study, Scrum theory and the five Scrum values, and hear a lightning case study from a classmate. Understand the Scrum framework through a simple analogy and visual strorytelling/experience.
3. The Scrum team and your organisation Create role posters, test yourself with quiz questions and check your answers with Sammy Scrum Master, our AI teammate. Then look beyond the team at managers and organisational impediments.

4. Backlog and the Sprint Share what you learnt about agile from 3 case studies, then write user stories, estimate with Planning Poker and build a strong Definition of Done.
5. Scrum simulation Refine a backlog, set a Sprint Goal and run two full Sprints with every Scrum event — the second Sprint using AI. Hands on and lots of fun!
6. Get certified Practise exam questions throughout the course, then take the Scrum Alliance CSM exam after day 2 concludes . What you'll leave with

  • No. The course suits people new to agile as well as those who want to consolidate their experience.

  • How do I get certified?
  • At the end of day 2 you'll complete a short feedback survey, then take the Scrum Alliance CSM exam online.

  • How can I prepare?
  • Read the 2020 Scrum Guide before the course. You'll also practise exam questions throughout the two days.

  • What do I need on the day?
  • A computer with Zoom, a reliable internet connection and a webcam. We'll use Miro for group work.

  • Can you run this for our team?
